Prime time is the first week in April, but the season doesn’t end till the end of the month. The Kellerton Bird Conservation Area has a commercial spotting scope on a viewing platform. So come the night before and stay at Charlie-Jane’s Bed and Breakfast. That way you can see and hear them at dusk and sunrise. There will be a hot picnic basket and folding chairs to take with you to watch the Prairie Chickens, and after you return a full breakfast will be waiting.
We just couldn’t have people staying at Charlie-Jane’s without having a copy of the book “The Iowa Road Guide to Haunted Locations”. Our local Tedrow Cemetery here in Southwest Iowa, is one of the 75 sites to make the book. This weekend our guests asked if we had a copy for sale! Now we have it available on the coffee table for guests to read up on the cemetery south of Mount Ayr and other haunted locations in Iowa. Stop by, visit Ringgold County and one of Iowa’s most haunted locations, but don’t forget to stay at Charlie-Janes you will need a good night’s sleep!
Easter is just around the corner, April 8th, and it is time for Charlie-Jane’s Easter Egg Hunt! Families making reservations at our bed and breakfast get a BIG pancake breakfast with bacon or sausage, fresh fruit, and juice from now, March 9th until April 9th. During the day there will be an old fashion egg hunt, with each child getting their own Easter basket full of goodies, plus their very own Chocolate Easter Egg. Great memories are made at Charlie-Jane’s!
Ringgold County, in Iowa, had its own swan lake this week when a group of trumpeter swans made a stop at the Mount Ayr wildlife Area south of Highway 2. The visitors maybe swans reintroduced in Missouri in recent years. So be it swans or prairie chickens, Charlie-Jane’s Bed and Breakfast is the place to stay with our lodging package that includes a hot picnic basket to go see the birds!
