While we knew the Vande Rose Foods meats were being raised in our area and served in the well known restaurants on the east and west coasts, we couldn’t purchase them in our local stores.  I was so happy to see their bacon for sale in our local Hy-Vee store this weekend.  It’s only right that this wonderful homegrown Iowa pork should be served in our bed and breakfast in Oskaloosa.  The bacon is Artisian Dry Cured and is so meaty and thick.  Though the price is higher, the high quality and meatiness of it is worth it as it takes far less of it to fill you up, although you’ll want to keep eating until it is gone.
